Good Boy Scout of Mountain Springs
So how good is scout and his pedigree? Well Scout himself has proven to be a wonderful dog, full of energy. I was lucky to get Scout. A friend of a friend needed help and I was there to help. In the end I was the big winner. After trying to get more of this line which is very similar to Tonya's I was running into brick walls. I had done more than my share but the breeder would never come thru on his end. Just goes to show that being a good person does pay off.
Scout himself is the real deal, great versatile hunting dog. He does all we ask of our breeding dogs. Great water work, I mean a love of the water. Good point, and back, great temperament, he is really very loving. A very good versatile hunting dog. He does range a little big at times and does get so excited that he barks when running. I'm not a big fan of that but I can live with it.
Is he a better dog than the other stud dogs that I have or have had? The answer is no, but they are all very close. Does he produce better hunting dogs? That will tell in time, but probably not. I've went thru hundreds of shorthairs to keep the ones I use so he better be good. He is in all honesty good enough to meet my high standards.
How good is his pedigree? It's pretty darn good. Is it better than Rob's, or Buck's? Probably but their's is pretty darn good too.
What is so remarkable about Scout's is all the great German American Shorthairs from the past that make up what we have today, without any of the American Field types that we have today. What's not there is as important in making this pedigree stand out as what is there. The white field trial Moesgaard and Rusty type dogs are not there. What is there is still not fully understood by me. I simple don't know about all the great dogs. But I can read between the lines.
What I see is a lot of Hillhaven's Hustler, that means a great line back to Axel Wasserschling, not only our foundation but Germany's as well. So many of the Hainsholz Kennel dogs. I wish I knew more about them. The owner of the kennel Daisy Schapeer who is 85 years old as of this writing in 2017 and I have had a phone conversation where some of the dogs were talked about, and another meeting at her place is planned and she told me she would explain all that she could, and answer all my questions. Let's hope that does take place.
Scout's grandfather is DC Bodo V Walrand, Daisy's import and favorite dog. She says he was the best and stamped about 60 percent plus of himself on his breeding's. That one dog alone would be enough to make you look a second time at Scout and his pedigree. The truth is it's just the tip of the iceberg. Scout's grandmother on the sire's side is also 100 percent Hainsholz, Scout's great grandfather is the only German KS, and American DC that I know of Ybold Rothenuffein. A great grandfather you might say might not have that much influence. Yes but keep looking, Bodo's grandfather is KS Terz Rothernuffein who's mother Yola is Ybold's sister. Look closer down on Scout's mom's side and you see the famous DC HOF Treeker V Grunbaum one of the most titled GSP's grandfather is KS Yoli Rothenuffeln, which means that Treeker is mostly a Rothenuffeln and Hustler cross. Treeker is there a couple times so then is KS Yoli with him. Remember KS Yoli is KS DC Ybold's brother.
Hustler shows up enough to give Scout an COI of 7.0 percent to Hustler. Something to think about. Scout's top half represents a lot of work of the Hainsholz Kennel. The time and money to import these great dogs, get American tiles on them and breed them in a well thought out breeding program. Well I'm honored, really! My hats off to the Schapeer's. We have in honor of Daisy named a chose pup after her. She is the little love of life.
In the back part of Bodo's line you see the likes of Elk Vom Hege-Haus, as well as Axle V Wasserschling.
Remember our Tonya has a very close matching pedigree to Scout in that they have the same mother, and Tonya's sire's father is a KS DC Ybold son. Putting her top 25 percent of the pedigree the same as Scout's. Keep in mind that we have kept back 4 pups from a Scout and Tonya breeding, one being Daisy.
So let's look at both Scout and Tonya's botton half, their mother. The mother's pedigree is as outstanding as the sire's. Also in what it does not have. Let's however look at what it does have. Let's just come down the great grandparents. Every single one either has a very good kennel or dog, or both. On Scout and Tonya's mom's dad side it's DC HOF Hillhaven's Hustler, KS Yoli Rotherinuffeln, DC HOF Treeker V Grunbaum (twice). Born Ranch via Orson vom Pottsiepen. On Scout and Tonya's mom's mother side are DC Ziel vom Feinschmeker sired by FC Beier's Evolution x FC Brookeves Gerda Garbo. DC Stradivarius Arabesque, KS Onyx Vom Hege-Haus, Straadivarius Fugue, SD Stradivarivarius Baroque, KS Holle V Stolzen Au. As you can clearly see, and also take a look at the family tree and pedigree it's pretty remarkable.

ScoutScout is a half brother to our Tonya. Scout is a wonderful dog with a wonderful pedigree. One of those pedigrees that will have any Shorthair breeder saying "Wow". Scout is a very nice, versatile German Shorthair with a great temperament. He is very lovable, and playful, and would love nothing more than hanging out with you. He loves the water, has a nice point and back, loves to retrieve, and works with you and is not runner for running's sake.

Scout and half sister on mother's side Tonya.Scout and Tonya's are half brother and sister, both having the same mother. Heavy in the Hillhaven's lines. With so many greats in their mother's line.

Scout has a Junior Hunter title which I would think all of our dogs could pass.Scout has a good start on hunting, but has been hunted mostly on planted birds before he came to us. Now he will need to make the jump to wild birds. He does love to hunt, and is extremely birdie.
