Desert Point's Holly

Holly came to us via Julie Norman the owner of UplandHills Kennel. Julie had paid good money for Holly as pup because the breeding was so good. Holly is out of Tank a NAVHDA Versatile Champion and Master Hunter, and Amber a German DK, who's sire is a KS German Champion. Holly showed at a young age a lot of natural ability. She loved the water, and loved to retrieve. Holly was sent to a pro trainer to prepare Holly for her NAVHDA testing. It appears that the trainer hit Holly with the barrel of his gun and caused Holly some damage around the eye and even went so far as to stitch it up without telling, and this cause Holly to drop to the ground when a gun was lifted. Holly was sent to another trainer to cure this, which he did to some degree. Holly was then given back to one of her breeders for his use. However after about a year and a half the details of the agreement were not met. The owner  was not happy with the living conditions that Holly was in. A small kennel run and no outside exercise or hunting. She and I picked Holly up and brought her to our kennel for evaluation, and rehabilitation. The first thing I did was give Holly a bath, she smelled of urine and feces. It was odd watching her run in the yard with the other dogs. It was almost like she had forgotten how to even trot around. She would hi step like some kind of walking horse. In the field even her running was odd. However a trip to the water with a duck showed Holly in her true environment. She was wonderful in the water. Both NAVHA and German dogs are wonderful in the water. Holly really took after the duck in the water. Holly would fly into the water like a dock diving dog. Holly however was not really comfortable around people. You could tell that she was not very trusting with people. She also was not really very comfortable around other dogs. Holly has been sleeping with me every night and she has bonded very well. She still looks a little worried when I call her, but likes to follow me around and likes to lay next to me when I'm in the house. She is showing some good progress overall and she is doing very well with the pack. Holly loves the outings with the Gang. She loves to hunt and covers a lot of ground. She has lost all her fat and has built a lot of muscle. We are very please with the progress that she has made and expect good things from her.  Update: After 3 months the pack and our family has worked it's Magic on Holly, and she is a completely different lady. It is truly remarkable the healing that has taken place. I am very pleased.

Here is a Picture of Holly after she has been with us a few months.

Holly is a very good looking dark liver roan girl who is build very well and covers ground with ease.  She gets along well with all the other dogs and does well in the house. She will eat the cookies off the counter however.

Holly Loves the Water

We love a good water dog and water is one of Holly's strong points for sure. She flies into the water like a Dock Diving Dog. She really goes after a duck and has a strong retrieve.

Holly's sire is a Versatile Champion and a Master Hunter. Holly's dam is a German DK (Deutsch Durzhaar) and Holly's grandsire is a German KS Champion.
